My passion assisting new parents prepare for birth and adjust to changes that new babies bring had its own birth after my eldest son was born in 2004. I found that I enjoyed supporting other new parents on this journey, by providing the resources and information they needed. In 2008 I made my passion my profession, when I started working as a WIC peer counselor at the Burlington County WIC. I gained experience working with expectant parents teaching breastfeeding education classes.
In addition to the hands-on experience, I continued to advance my training. I was trained as a postpartum doula with DONA (2011), as a birth doula (2013), and as a childbirth educator (2014) with CAPPA. In 2018 I completed my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist training. In March of 2019, I completed my Active Birth Institute postpartum doula training.
In October 2019, I sat for the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam, and in November 2019 I began working at Temple hospital as a Lactation Consultant. I moved to Mercer WIC in 2020, and became the Breastfeeding Supervisor in 2021.
Working with families as a birth and postpartum doula and through providing childbirth education has been a very rewarding experience as I work to fulfill the needs of all of my clients by responding to their individual circumstances and wishes. In addition to raising three boys, I am a Breastfeeding Counselor with Breastfeeding USA.
